DELAYED

I broke my camera and my life has been hectic. Beyond hectic. I was in school full time, working full time, doing an internship, and my family is going bonkers. Those are the reasons why I broke my promise that I would begin blogging again soon. But this time I'm not lying. I've been having way too much fun with life not to share. I'll begin with a few random updates just because I gotta start somewhere right? The quality of my pics is probably....not it definitely will be shit because I have to use the camera on my phone until I find another camera that I enjoy. I'd really enjoy a dope lil Nikon, but that would have to be something I save up for and buy as a Christmas gift to myself or something like that. Here are random things that have popped off over the last few months...

I've started wearing my hair out a lot more. I wear weave most of the time because my hair is SUPER difficult to deal with and I'm way too focused on my gear to care to fight with it on a daily basis. I think it was Fredric Fekkai that said "Hair is an accessory that you wear everyday" and I couldn't agree more. I just wish that I had the strength and know how to dedicate to managing mine. Braids, tracks, and wigs work just as well though. Ultimate accessories indeed. A lot of people think that I'm bald because of it, and I can't really blame them, but as my good friend Prils likes to say "They can kick rocks with no socks".

I scored this BEAUTIFUL Jessica McClintock dress for my lil sis to wear to prom for an astounding $60. From Saks. I promise I'm not lying. I'm good at what I do and I'm not too shy to admit it. With my knack for discovering sales and coupons and my persuasive powers combined...I'm telling ya'll I'm a professional deal finder. You better holla at me.

I then went into my closet and found this dress I'd bought from H&M for like 20 bucks last Black Friday (my favorite day of the year) and decided I wanted to join her. I knew I'd find a reason to wear this dress. I truly think it says "I'm going to prom, but I'm not overdoing it cuz it's not my prom". Never pass on something you fall in love with if it's a good deal guys. It will come in handy someday. Oh yea, so I wouldn't feel so bad about being at my third prom at 24 years old I recruited my girl Alisha to join me (that's her in the background, hey String Bean!). We're thinking about making prom crashing an annual event.

I don't know that I've ever shared my love of rings with you guys, but I have a love of rings. I won't leave home without them. I feel like your hands are so visible and you use them so much during the day... they should be interesting to look at if you can help it. But what I have might be a problem. I've literally been locking my door to run to the corner store real quick and realized I'm not wearing any rings...and yes I do run my little ass back inside to get one or a few. I feel so naked without them :(. Anywho, meet the Adderbite Snake Ring. It's by far my favorite ring that I've ever purchased. It doesn't go well with many things, but I love it so much that I wear it with almost everything. Isn't it FANTASTIC?! It's a half size too big and I had to pay double the price (had to go through a NY company to get one shipped over from London), but it was worth every damn penny.

Lastly, here's my baby TAJ all grown up. He's getting neutered in two days. I just hope that he's my same energetic, super happy son when he comes home. Oh yea, I have to drop him off at like 8 in the morning and go back to get him around 3pm. I can't stand the idea of leaving him with strangers. I cried about it, but what must be done must be done. I just hope that he doesn't hate mommy forever for putting him through this :(

Welp, that's it for now ladies and germs. I think my next post will be about the newest shoes I've bought. I almost always take pics of my new shoes so I'm sure I have a few that I can share. Talk to you lovely folks soon ;)

My Sister: The Model

1. They added a blond streak to the front of her hair and did lil pin curls in the back. it was cutie wootie.

2. Being a stage sister and all, you know I came prepared. I brought bags full of accessories and shoes. I was NOT about to rely on them having the goods...no sir-ee bob. It was so difficult choosing what to bring and what to leave at home tho. lol

3. John John is def a G for laying in the water like that. I started running when it just touched my toes. lol

4. They were telling her to give an angry or fierce face and this chick started laughing and said she didn't know how to. I don't know what face she ended up giving cuz I went to talk to my mom...who stood as far away from the water without being on the sidewalk as possible

5. Striking a pose :). Even with my 5 1/2 inch platforms on I wasn't taller than this chick in her blazers. My sisters are wild. The 13 year old is my size. And her boobs are bigger. wtf

Sooo….I entered my lil sis into a modeling competition and the chick ended up winning. The problem was that I had forgotten to tell her or anyone else that I had entered her. Lolol. I just did it while I was sitting at work one day and completely forgot about it until I received an email on Friday telling me that she had won…and that her photo shoot was in two days. The problem with that was I was leaving for Rhode Island and since I had entered her and didn’t tell her the responsibility of making sure that she was prepared fell solely on me. Sheesh. To make matters worse I had a competition Saturday night. After much pleading I enlisted the help of my mother who drove her to the mall to get the two dresses she required. The shoot was at 9am and I dragged my groggy hung over behind out of bed, showered, and threw on some 5 ½ platform heels (Heels for Hangovers, perhaps we can discuss this another time). We got there a lil late, but everything went really well. I was creeping around taking my own pics, but I was too scared to go into that cold ass water. John John (that’s what I call her, her real name is Janaye) is def a G for that. That explains why my pics are from so far away. Lol. And they were taken using my phones camera. All in all it was a good time. The photographer wants the pics to be a surprise so she gave John John a sneak peek of one pic but wouldn’t let my mother and I look at anything. I was def being a complete stage sister. I live for that. Anywho, I’ll keep you all updated on her modeling progress as time goes by. Let me know if you see anything interesting out there 

Nuzart: Inspiration 4 What Will Someday Be a Living Room

(From top: the Nuzart logo, My fav piece from the site Metamorfosi by elenalasagniphotography)

Ok. So as some of you may know I recently moved into my first apartment. If you know that you’ve probably also heard me complain about not having a living room yet. I like so many things and so many different styles that it’s really hard for me to just be like well I want my living room to have this type of couch and be this color, etc, etc. There is literally nothing in there yet but a black area rug cuz the carpet is so damn ugly. Anywho, I’ve figured out the direction I want to go in. Something that I just KNOW I won’t regret or be bored with soon because it can be ever changing with minimal time, effort, and $$$. I am going to fill my entire back wall, floor to ceiling, with delicious art. Dead smack in the middle I want to put a table of some sort that can hold sculptures or other fantastic things I come across. Isn’t that a super dope idea? I’m gunna scout my fav flea market this weekend to see if I can find a proper little table. I had this light bulb moment after my newest new discovery Nuzart. Nuzart is IIILLLL. Then again I say that about everything I put in this blog, so maybe you should check em out for yourself. The basic idea of Nuzart is….art. It’s kind of like the Etsy of artwork. Their tagline is “a new way to exhibit, buy, sell, and share talent”. The homepage allows you to choose how you want to look for your art. You could go by color, subject, shape, genre, or technique. You can even combine the choices. For example I could look up brown, panoramic photographs of landscapes or abstract, square paintings. Cool enough. But it doesn’t stop there…oh no. You can then choose your printing material. Matte finish photo paper is the cheapest option, but you can get your work printed on everything from canvas to something involving aluminum that I don’t quite understand even after reading the description, and everything in between. From there you can choose the size. Depending on the shape you choose this can range from 50cmx50cm to 120cmx12ocm or 40cmx30cm to 70cmx50cm. You can also sell and create art through the site. I am already loving some of the things that I’ve found on there and I might cop one or two sooner than later. I also plan to look at a bunch of local stuff. I’ll keep you guys updated on what I hope is going to end up being a lovely collage. Take a look at Nuzart by clicking the link below

My Weekend

I had a super dope weekend, which I will update with pics as soon as I can. lol. Friday night I went to my cousin's 40th bday party which was a blast. All the old folks kept passing me their drinks. lol. I did Single Ladies for the crowd but the hatin ass DJ mixed the song halfway thru (jealousy is a weak emotion) and I danced the night away with my 70 year old uncle. Sweet. Saturday I went on an ice cream hunt with my grandfather and like 10 other members of my family and we ended up in the wrong damn place so we split up and my grandfather my sister and I went to Taco Bell. On my way back to my grandfather's I chipped my nail polish (anyone that knows me KNOWS that's a no-no) so I went to CVS to cop a new one cuz I didn't have any at my Papa's. Of course I walked out with 6 new shades and decided midway thru fixin my chipped nail that maybe I should just do another color entirely and that made my Blvd entrance a bit later than I had timed. The Blvd grand opening was cool. Free sushi and beer= my kind of place. They started giving out raffle tix and I got a peek at one of the prizes...an iller than ill skateboard with this crazy painting of a naked lady on a couch on it. Basi (my college room mates sister) and I decided immedately that it was the prize I needed. Small problem...the people I was dipping with (it was my boys 21st bday) wanted to go b4 midnight so we could be singing happy birthday while sipping on vodka with loud music pounding in our ears. I had to run outside to tell them not to leave me and ended up staying a lil longer than I intended and in that time period I won the skateboard. Basi pleaded with the people to wait for me to come back in and I hauled ASS back up the steps but they sed NOPE! and pulled another ticket and gave my skateboard away :( I was so f'ing sad. So of course I had to go drown my sorrows. Ended up @ Jillians where my crew and I proceeded to try to out buy each other at the bar. I broke one of my favorite rings, my cousin ended up under a table, u kno, the usual things. Then came Sunday which took the f'ing cake cuz I went shooopppiinnnng :). Haberdash first, of course. I got sum pretty sweet ish outta there that I will post as soon as I get it outa my boys trunk. lol. I'm so glad that the Hab came around cuz I discovered 2 new stores: DAME and 40 which I will now frequent. I got sum ill stuff outta both stores (lil blk leather jckt remnicent of MJ's red one from Thriller on sale for $36. Real leather...made in Italy...umm...yea, hi) and the people that work there are IIILLLL! At Dame I wanted this denim waist cincher but it too big for my baby body and one of the women actually whipped out the sewing machine on my ass and did some tailoring on the spot. How cool is that? After my spree I went to my friends bday cookout (continuation of the celebration from the night before) where a bunch of my lovely buddies from Franklin Pierce (whooo college!) showed up and we had a blast. Got drunk (again) and ended up at Hong Kongs which ss one of the dopest places in the world cuz I don't know anywhere else where you can cop chicken teriyaki from a man in shirt that says TERIYAKI on the back while you're on the dancefloor. He literally walks around with an insulated bucket filled with the greatest teriyaki on earth slingin it for $1 to the liquored up 20 sumthings dominating the place. What's better than that? One of my boys and I decided to split a scorpion bowl between the two of us and when we got it we decided to see how fast we could drink it. Needless to say once I got home I fell asleep standing up in the shower and he doesn't remember the ride home after his brother dropped me off. And I made it to work at 8:45 Monday morning. Family, friends, liqs, food, parties, clubs, and shopping? Now that's what I call a good weekend :)

My twin and I

This weekend was my birthday which was great because both the 4th and the 5th (my fantastic date of birth) fell on the weekend. Wheee! Also, I'd like to love up my fantastic sisters Nina and John John (not their real names but that's what I call them), my darling Vicki, and everyone else that made my day special.
