The Other New York Fashion Week

From top: 1. That dog definitely owns a dress that's more lovely than anything I have in my closet...smdh, 2. Sometimes I wish that Cashmere (my sisters dog, aka Aunty's Baby, lol) was a female so I could dress him in such things. The black and white of this photo makes it so glamourous and timeless...crazy for a pic of a dog. lol., 3. This dog bed is wonderful. If I ever own a dog she/he will def have a bed like that. lol

First of all, I have been completely MIA for no reason. I really don't know why I haven't made a single post in so long. Now I'm back to my grind...actually I will b back in full force on Monday. It's the weekend of the Caribbean Festival here in Boston and also my lil brother's bday is Sunday so it should make for a great time. For anyone interested in the Festival come down to Warren Street or Blue Hill Ave between noon and about 4pm tomoro. Trust me, you will enjoy yourself. The food, the costumes (I'll make sure that i include pics of me in mine), and the many, MANY people that you will encounter. Hundreds of thousands to be exact. Anywho, moving on to the story at hand, how many of you knew that NY had a Fashion Week for dogs?! Lol. I surely didn't. Just thought I'd hip you guys to it and share a few of my fav pics from it.

RANDOM

I just wanted to share this ad becuz sumthin about it is so lovely to me. Actually everything about it is lovely to me. The boots, the model, the astronaut...I love it

H&M Shoes R Starting to Catch my Eye

I usually don't care for H&M shoes but they recently had a pair of black leather sling back peeptoe booties in there and I was like hmmmm interesting and came close to copping but then got distracted and ended up wandering off. Their heels are always too low for me. I don't see the point of wearing 1"-3" heels. I've never seen a pair that I liked. Anywho...I just wanted to say that they're getting wild lately...and I like it...a lot. Keep getting wild darlings...please. Pics courtesy of Nitrolicious.com. Retrogurl is the ish.

HoT DESIGNER ALERT: Delise' Ana

A few months ago I discovered a designer from South Carolina named Delise’ Ana. I was taken by her gear and messaged her asking a few questions. I saved a few pics for viewing pressure at my own will, but she didn’t update her myspace for a while and the whole thought kind of got pushed to the side in my mind. Until yesterday when I went on my spizzy and saw a new pic of hers in my news feed. This chick is the truth. I love her gear. I had to share. I hope you like as much as I do. If such is the case head on over to her myspace and check it out for yourself…that’s the link below.

STEALS AND DEALS: Ideeli

Ideeli is a private shopping site as well but they have one thing that the others don’t. Free giveaways. Often. I’m talking designer bags and shoes giveaways on an almost daily basis. Right now they’re doing a Coach bag giveaway so I suggest you stop reading this an just go sign up and enter your name into the pot. They’re also having just about everything Just Cavalli (jewelry, sunnies, and bags) and Ben Sherman sales amongst literally about 8 others. But if you stopped reading and went to sign up when I told you to you would already know that.

http://www.ideeli.com/invite/shizzboston

STEALS AND DEALS: Hautelook

Hautelook is next on my DEALS AND DEALS list. I think that of all the sites that I belong to Hautelook might be the hippest. They always have really trendy and well known labels from what I can tell. Right now they’re having 7 for all mankind, Seiko watches, and Rock and Republic Shoe, handbag, and beauty sales. The prices are looking pretty damn good too…I just came from there. Lol. Has anyone tried R&R lipgloss? Are they good? They look really cute and I was thinking about coppin. Let me know if you find something you just can’t resist.

STEALS AND DEALS: Gilt Fuse

Ok...I just had to throw this up here real quick cuz I got real excited. i was trying to pace my STEALS AND DEALS and post one or two every few hours, but a new sale just started at noon that get me all types of joyous. Gilt Fuse is a branch of Gilt Groupe that was very recently (last Wednesday to be exact) opened for business. They are targeted toward a younger (and poorer) audience therefore making it PERRRFECT for me. lol. They just started a WeSC sales for the females and want to buy half the stuff on there but I know I can't cuz I'm tryna be a grown up with my dough these days. Boo to that. There are a lot of simple type things that I loooove. I usually go with pretty simple gear cuz I'm a complete accessories person (I count my shoes and bags as accessories) and this WeSC sale is so perfect for my style. It's times like these that I wish I still lived rent free at home with mommy. lol. Oh well. I'm seriously contemplating just buying a single item...but I'm telling myself not to cuz I bought 3 pairs of heels in 2 days last week after justifying my need for them...to myself. Anywho, hop on over to Gilt Fuse. If you keep up with these sales there's almost no way that you'll never buy anything cuz the stuff is really that cheap. Don't believe me? Go see for yourself...

STEALS AND DEALS: Gilt Groupe

Ahh Gilt. What would I do without thee? Gilt probably has some of the best sales. They have things that even though they’re on sale my ass still can’t afford them, but it makes me happy that I’m a member cuz one day when I do have a lil extra cash I will be damn sure to cop something. For example, one of the first to do things on my when I’m rich list is to buy a Herve Leger dress. It is absolutely necessary to me that I own one someday. Gilt had the bad boys on sale for as low as $550 last month. I almost spent my rent money honey. If I had somehow known about that sale a month or two in advance, you better believe I would be walking around downtown Boston bandaged up right this minute. Anywho, I know a few of my readers are more well off than I am cuz some of you have your own booming businesses and such. Boy by Band of Outsiders, Rebecca Taylor and Mike & Chris Shoes are sales popping off right now. Every celebrity's favorite jean company Rich and Skinny starts at noon. There are some Ralph Lauren and Valentino sales coming up too. For all my less fortunate readers don’t fret, I’m sure you could find something on here for you. Not everything is high priced clothing. They also do skin care, make up, handbag, and shoe sales. They had a Rock & Republic makeup sale like last week and everything was super affordable. All in all Gilt is a great site and I highly suggest you at least check it out cuz who knows what you’ll find….right?

STEALS AND DEALS: Rue La La

Ok…so I’ve been MIA for a few days. To anyone that actually cares…I’m sorry. Lol. Anywho, I’ve decided to dedicate today to deals. I love deals…who doesn’t? I belong to my fair share of private shopping websites and I’d like to invite all my darling readers to join me in copping exclusive gear at sometimes ridiculous prices. I’m going to start you off where I started off with none other than Rue La La. This site was my first glimpse into the private shopping world and it turned me into a monster. I now belong to so many deal making and deal finding sites it’s kind of ridiculous. Rue La La has some pretty decent sales going on right now with Malo, DKNY outerwear, and James Jeans for Men and Women a few of my preferred stand outs. If you’re into Michael by Michael Kors or Vera Bradley those sales and many others are still to come in the days up ahead so you better get to joining. Follow my link (I renamed it just for you guys ) and enjoy a warm welcome into my world.

Another Super Dope Weekend

Tukie and I playing model

My brother loves the camera...seriously

My lil man turned 1!!! Yay!!!

I had a super DOOOOOPE weekend bro fuh real. It started out Friday night chillen wit two of the infamous BOURG crew in Faneuil Hall drunk as a skunk eatin chicken teriyaki from Hong Kongs on a bench in a half top I made from a dress, high waisted skinnies, and gold heeled BCBG booties. Dope. Booski came and got me and brought me home. I haven't seen him in a lil while so that was cool. The next day I got up with one of the bestie's aka Tukie aka she who speaks of herself in the 3rd person aka the trick who decided to up and move to NY without notice last year...I wanted to kick her ass but I've since goten over it cuz she's def making moves and I can't hate on that. My bro and his bf and my cuz Joycey and fellow BOURGette Basi came thru too 2 my crib too. We had a fantastic breakfast (Well Basi and I did anyway. lol. Tuk's bagle was ...in her words...BUHNT). While we were eating my brother had a photo shoot on my camera phone...he is too much. We then proceeded to one of my fav shopping destinations where I copped this dope vintage blue leather overnight bag and the sunnies I'm rockin in the pic above. I probably bought some other stuff too but I'm such an impulse buyer that I forget what I cop sometimes. I'm a good impulse buyer though. I don't think I've ever copped something and been like WTF WAS I THINKING?!?!?! the next day. lol. from $2 to $200 I love it all. Anywho, that was fine and dandy. After that shopping my bro his bf my cuz and I went to the mall cuz i had to cop something for the sexiest lil dude's bday. My nephew is completely adorable and he turned 1 :). I got him sum gear and kicks (of course) and then it was to the crib to get dressed for the night. Me, Basi and Tukie ended up at the Kells and decided to dip once Tukie started falling asleep in the club. lol. She is FAMOUS for that. We caught a bus (don't ask how, I thought the Night Owl ended years ago) and I ended up having a run in with a dude I use to talk to that I'm not gunna name, but he's WILDERNESS. I can't even go into detail about how wild this man gets with me. It's just short of a restraining order. With the help of my lovelies I escaped that situation and we went to their sisters crib and K.O.'d. Sunday was a great day too but this post is getting too long so long story short started the day off with some way too early morning shopping with my sis and Joycey, went to my lil chocolate man's bday party and had a blast, Went to Blue Wave downtown wid di krew dem, rode my first motorcycle and loved it so much I asked my boy to pick me up at my house afta the club so that I could ride again, did such until 4:30 am, spent Monday being a complete lazy body with my sisters and Joycey...and now I'm at work typing this post from work...o shit I'm at work! Gotta go! I'll holla :)

My Sister: The Model: The End Results!

I said I would keep you updated on that shoot my lil sis had the other day. This is me proving that I'm no liar dude. The pics came out wonderful :) I am so proud of her...she's growing up so fast :'(. Special shout out to Tatiana Cache for her wonderful pics! These aren't all the pics, but they're my favs. If you wana check them all out hit me up on myspace or facebook and check the "My Lil Sis Is All grown Up" albums. Here's to the Pam's (our momma) girls doing big things.

My Sister: The Model

1. They added a blond streak to the front of her hair and did lil pin curls in the back. it was cutie wootie.

2. Being a stage sister and all, you know I came prepared. I brought bags full of accessories and shoes. I was NOT about to rely on them having the goods...no sir-ee bob. It was so difficult choosing what to bring and what to leave at home tho. lol

3. John John is def a G for laying in the water like that. I started running when it just touched my toes. lol

4. They were telling her to give an angry or fierce face and this chick started laughing and said she didn't know how to. I don't know what face she ended up giving cuz I went to talk to my mom...who stood as far away from the water without being on the sidewalk as possible

5. Striking a pose :). Even with my 5 1/2 inch platforms on I wasn't taller than this chick in her blazers. My sisters are wild. The 13 year old is my size. And her boobs are bigger. wtf

Sooo….I entered my lil sis into a modeling competition and the chick ended up winning. The problem was that I had forgotten to tell her or anyone else that I had entered her. Lolol. I just did it while I was sitting at work one day and completely forgot about it until I received an email on Friday telling me that she had won…and that her photo shoot was in two days. The problem with that was I was leaving for Rhode Island and since I had entered her and didn’t tell her the responsibility of making sure that she was prepared fell solely on me. Sheesh. To make matters worse I had a competition Saturday night. After much pleading I enlisted the help of my mother who drove her to the mall to get the two dresses she required. The shoot was at 9am and I dragged my groggy hung over behind out of bed, showered, and threw on some 5 ½ platform heels (Heels for Hangovers, perhaps we can discuss this another time). We got there a lil late, but everything went really well. I was creeping around taking my own pics, but I was too scared to go into that cold ass water. John John (that’s what I call her, her real name is Janaye) is def a G for that. That explains why my pics are from so far away. Lol. And they were taken using my phones camera. All in all it was a good time. The photographer wants the pics to be a surprise so she gave John John a sneak peek of one pic but wouldn’t let my mother and I look at anything. I was def being a complete stage sister. I live for that. Anywho, I’ll keep you all updated on her modeling progress as time goes by. Let me know if you see anything interesting out there 

Listia: Auctions For Free Stuff

I don’t think there’s anything much better than free. I just discovered an eBay style site where you bid on things using credits that you earn (for free) instead of money. I don’t know why I haven’t seen this before, but I’m glad that I found it now. I was so excited that I started writing this post before I even really checked out the site, so I have yet to discover whether or not they have anything on there that I would actually want. What I do know is that you get 100 credits just for signing up. From what I understand you can replenish your credits by posting your own stuff up for sale. I love this idea and I’m about to go back and try to scout out some goods. You should go too. I hope you find something delish .

RESTAURANT WEEK IS HERE!!!!

If you live in Boston and you don’t know what this is about…shame on you! I am in love with food, the very thought of it, and the two times a year that this event comes about are definitely times that I look forward to. For people that may be out of the loop the idea is fairly simple. Participating restaurants in Boston and the Greater Boston area can choose to add prix fixe light lunch, lunch, and dinner options to their menu for $15.09, $20.09, and $33.09, respectively. More than 200 restaurants have signed on this year and many are opting for two and three week runs instead of the traditional one week. Saturday is usually a return to the normal menu, but this year with the economy and all many places are keeping their special menus in place all week long. One restaurant that I saw is participating for the entire month of August! I know that I personally am hitting up Haru on Huntington for dinner ASAP. I’ve been wanting to go there forever and now is the perfect time. They’re offering a first course, a soup, a main entrée, and THEN a dessert. Suh-weet.I haven’t decided where else I want to go, but maybe I’ll run into you on my mission to be able to say I’ve eaten in every restaurant in Boston someday. For more info and a list of restaurants head over to http://www.bostonusa.com/visit/restaurantweek. Happy Eating :)

WESC Sale at Gilt

If I were a dude I would be so all over this. They have this bluish-green hoodie with a black Wesc symbol on the front that I would cop in a heartbeat if I could fit it. Lol. Gilt Groupe is an invitation only private shopping site. If you want to be down or you know someone that does, go to the following link, http://www.giltgroupe.com/invite/merrittwilliams. Tell ‘em I sent ya.

The Beauty of Art: Kim Noble

From top to bottom:

1. The artist at work

2. "Eating Disorder" by a "teenager" who suffers from anorexia and bulemia. She doesn't believe in DID and starts trouble with the artists' daughter

3. "Edge of the Circle" by the artists latest and unknown alter ego who prefers painting dark scenes at awkward hours of the day

This is an AMAZING story. A woman named Kim Noble suffers from dissociative identity disorder (DID) which is a type of multiple personality disorder. Painting as a means of relaxing was suggested so as to help her cope with the disorder and it was eventually discovered that her different personalities painted different types of pictures. I'd rather you go on over to Daily Mail and check out the entire story and see more of her work than read it here. The power of art is sooo amazing. Check out the link below

Jeremy Scott x Adidas 3 Tongue

Do you see theeeeese?! omg! No place in Boston has them, but I found a place in NJ that does and I'm currently in talks to have them bad ass black and white ones shipped over to the Dot. Jeremy Scott is soo beyond super dope. He's been getting his collabo on with Adidas for quite some time now. You know those gold hi tops with the detachable wings or that fantastic blk fringe dress with the Adidas trefoil printed on the fabric? those were his creations. He's so ill and he always surprises me. Word on the street is that blk and silver versions of the JS wings are about to drop, but I still only want the gold ones. I was so upset that they just slipped thru my fingers. If you don't know about J. Scott look him up! He's ill!

Limited Edition Chanel Moscow Polish

Do you see these?! I am calling the Newbury Chanel store as soon as I get out of here. They're $30 each, but I don't care...I want! The gold or the blue...oh my. I could live with the red...but those are my first choice. The colors actually have a black base and the color comes from added colored sparkles. Dopeness. Boston's STUFF Magazine just reported that it was sold out, but the Newbury store recently got restocked. Super dopeness. I'm so on it :)

Poem #2: All Good Things Must Come to a Halt? Never Heard That One Before

I wrote this one a few years ago. A few of my friends at FPC liked it a lot so i would read it at like every poetry slam we ever had. lol. i hope u like it too :)

Time and time again
I ask the simplest questions…
Never once do you answer
Over and over and once more
I inquire what it is you’re looking for
You don’t know
You don’t care
Or you just won’t tell
Cuz each time I get the same
Blank
Ass
Look
Always, yes, constantly
I’m trying my best
To be all I can be
Like I’m in the Army
For you
For us
For what was we
But now lacks a definition
We defied the laws of mathematics
And made one plus one equal one
But now one plus one equals two
Which means I try for us
While you seem to do you
I use to know everything there was to know
What you like to do
All your favorite foods
But now all I know is that

I CAN’T LIVE LIKE THIS ANYMORE

Poem #1: untitled

As you all know I ordered a new phone. Well it showed up at my office about an hour ago and before I make the big switch I was going through all the notes and vids and pics in my old phone and getting them out in case they ended up being useful. Idk if you all know, but I write A LOT. I write poems and all types of other yummy tidbits everyday. I can't really help it, things just pop into my head outta nowhere sometimes. I found this poem that I must have come up with on the bus or train cuz I can't think of any other reason why I would have had it in my phone. At first I didn't know wtf it was but after some reading I started remembering it and the idea and where it came from and what not. It's def a rough draft and could be better, but i have no plans to improve on it anytime soon so this is it for now. I think I'll post a bunch of my poems eventually...actually I'm going to put one of my friends favs up as soon as I'm done with this...I think I can recite it from memory. Anywho, here goes my first poetry post....Untitled

She cooked
She cleaned
She had his child
But that couldn’t stop him from being wild
Yeah he gave her rings
Lots of shiny things
But they didn’t make up for his late night flings
Or his mid day romps
Or the times
When his 9 to 5
Had him working late evenings
On trips for the weekend
She had all the material things a girl could ever want
But she’d give it all up for his love…

They could never be seen in the daytime together
And in the summer time they would pray for bad weather
For snow and rain storms
So they could sit in his car
And hold hands undetected
They’d never get reckless
Cuz he was Hispanic
And she was white
And in their parents’ eyes that shit wasn’t right
So they snuck out at night
And kept their secret by day
Making future plans to run away…

No one could love this hair
Or these eyes
Or this attitude
Or a body like mine
She spent her whole life saying things like that
Beating up on herself, cutting no type of slack
No man could love a girl with such miserable ways
So she’ll remain on her own throughout all of her days
Never let anyone close enough to say how pretty she was
She’ll leave this world the same way she came in…alone…

The moral for me?
Just let things be
It won’t always be perfect
And sometimes it hurts
But the shit could be worse
Like one sided
Condemned
Or I coulda just never met “him”

-Shaunie

Need: A New Phone

I totally completely destroyed my phone. Sprint won't fix it cuz they say I've done physical damage to it which I so haven't. If the charging port wasn't so damn flimsy...what do I have insurance for again? I'm going to have to ask them that really soon. Anywho, I was looking into the Rumor 2 and the Rant (A lot of you might know that i wanted the pre for a long time...but I'm not guna get into why I don't want it anymore....whole other story) until my sister put me on to the Samsung Exclaim. I am so digging this fantastically colored dual sliding beauty. It also has built in Myspace and Facebook apps which is great but I wish it had twitter too. iPhone this is not, but iPhone I also do not want. lol. My buddy Billy is trying to get me to just switch to T-Mobile instead, which I will consider, but for now I'm thinking about this lovely phone and what it would feel like to own it. If I got the blue one I'd call it Blooby. I'd call the pink one Pinky of couse. My sis doesn't want me to get it cuz she wants it, but I'm def not sweating that. lol. The Rant in red is on it's way to me, but I just may send it back for the Exclaim once I get it and realize I hate it all over again...which I discovered after playing with my lil sissy's. She's had it for a while and loves it but I couldn't get with it. It was free though and my phone is F@#%ED so it will do for now. If I can deal, I'll keep it. If not, I will def be using my mail in rebate to get Blooby/Pinky for $79.99.
