Correction...

Just wanted to say that I totally lied to you yesterday. The par-tay at Artifaktori was def yesterday, not today as I may have led some to believe. However the sale does continue through Sunday. Things are marked down by category i.e. all jewelry and housewares are 15% off, all shoes are 35% off, etc. There was wine aplenty as well as snackage. I copped that sweet lil necklace you see above and I love it. I absolutely adore the store’s set up and idk who put the outfits up on the wall but I’d like to learn a thing or two from them. There is a bunch of ILL handmade stuff from MassART students and even some of the stores staff! There are these feathered hair clips that you have to see to believe. The store is steps away from Davis Square station on the red line which is superb seeing as though I don’t know how to drive. While on the subject of that, I’m planning to learn very soon. I’ve set a goal of having my mini cooper for one of the following holidays: Christmas, Valentine’s Day, My birthday. It’s going to get done. I just got an email from Groupon slingin me bartending lessons for $150 (if you wana hop on that, let me know) so maybe I can get a side hustle bartending and make some extra guappage. Anyone that knows me KNOWS I’m copping. I’ve been talking about taking bartending lessons for YEARS, but the $445 price tag was always way too steep for me. $150 is something that I can handle. Back to the original topic though. GO TO ARTIFAKTORI THIS WEEKEND! It’s located at 22A College Avenue in Davis Square in Somerville. I promise it will be love at first sight 

Another Store Party...

Last weekend I was at Blvd., this weekend I plan to be at Artifaktori in Davis Square. WHEEE! I’ve never traveled out to the spot, but I think now would be a perfect time. Music, food, drinks, and vintage gear for 35% off? You better f’in believe that I’ll be up in there. I really shouldn’t go because I don’t have much expendable cash right now, but you only live once right? For all I know I might not even find anything that I like (which I highly doubt cuz the store looks dumb ill, but a girl can try to justify and reason…right?) so maybe I’m just going to chill and socialize. The actual par-tay is tomorrow, July 30th, from 7 to 10. Artifaktori is located at 22A College Avenue in Davis Square over in Sommerville. The gear will be on sale all weekend though (35% off THIS WEEKEND ONLY!), so even if you miss the event there’s still plenty of reason to stop through. Take a look at Artifaktori’s blog over at http://artifaktori.blogspot.com/

Peace is Something We Should ALL Wish For...

If I were rich I think that I would be a great philanthropist. Seeing as though I’m not, I like to lend myself to helping people less fortunate than myself whenever I get the chance. Sometimes assisting a cause takes a great deal of time and energy. Other times it’s as simple as signing your name on the dotted line. I love to flip through Blogger by clicking the next blog link because you truly never know what goodies you are going to find. Just a few minutes ago I came across My Land Iran, a blog by a girl named Asfar. Asfar is Iranian and sick of being oppressed by her government. I’ve been following the story of what’s going on over there and it’s very depressing. I could not imagine having to live like some of them do. I could not imagine having to see the things that they do and live in fear (remember the Neda video?...exactly). At first I was drawn to her beautiful pink nails and sick DKNY bracelet. Then I read what she had to say. The part that really got me was her post titles “What If?”. It starts off with a picture of a bloody man wiping his face. The words made me think about the simple freedoms and abilities I have that I don’t necessarily take for granted (trust me, sometimes I’ll get up and just start walking simply because I suddenly became overjoyed by the fact that unlike some at least I CAN walk), but everyone needs a reminder every now and then. Here’s an excerpt from the post:

‘What if you were told what to wear? What words you cannot speak? Where you can and cannot go? What if your life depended on those who decide for you?”

She ends it with the words: “When government power does not come from the people, its power is unlimited and controls every aspect of people’s lives. HELP US FREE IRAN”. I don’t know that there is much that I can do, but I did email Asfar simply to let her know that it’s not only the Iranian people that wish to see a peaceful future not just for Iran, but for every town and city in every part of the world. Sometimes I just get into these moods man… You can check out Asfar’s blog for yourself at http://wwwterritory68.blogspot.com/

Nuzart: Inspiration 4 What Will Someday Be a Living Room

(From top: the Nuzart logo, My fav piece from the site Metamorfosi by elenalasagniphotography)

Ok. So as some of you may know I recently moved into my first apartment. If you know that you’ve probably also heard me complain about not having a living room yet. I like so many things and so many different styles that it’s really hard for me to just be like well I want my living room to have this type of couch and be this color, etc, etc. There is literally nothing in there yet but a black area rug cuz the carpet is so damn ugly. Anywho, I’ve figured out the direction I want to go in. Something that I just KNOW I won’t regret or be bored with soon because it can be ever changing with minimal time, effort, and $$$. I am going to fill my entire back wall, floor to ceiling, with delicious art. Dead smack in the middle I want to put a table of some sort that can hold sculptures or other fantastic things I come across. Isn’t that a super dope idea? I’m gunna scout my fav flea market this weekend to see if I can find a proper little table. I had this light bulb moment after my newest new discovery Nuzart. Nuzart is IIILLLL. Then again I say that about everything I put in this blog, so maybe you should check em out for yourself. The basic idea of Nuzart is….art. It’s kind of like the Etsy of artwork. Their tagline is “a new way to exhibit, buy, sell, and share talent”. The homepage allows you to choose how you want to look for your art. You could go by color, subject, shape, genre, or technique. You can even combine the choices. For example I could look up brown, panoramic photographs of landscapes or abstract, square paintings. Cool enough. But it doesn’t stop there…oh no. You can then choose your printing material. Matte finish photo paper is the cheapest option, but you can get your work printed on everything from canvas to something involving aluminum that I don’t quite understand even after reading the description, and everything in between. From there you can choose the size. Depending on the shape you choose this can range from 50cmx50cm to 120cmx12ocm or 40cmx30cm to 70cmx50cm. You can also sell and create art through the site. I am already loving some of the things that I’ve found on there and I might cop one or two sooner than later. I also plan to look at a bunch of local stuff. I’ll keep you guys updated on what I hope is going to end up being a lovely collage. Take a look at Nuzart by clicking the link below

Chrishabana Hat

I've never known Chrishabana to make anything other than jewelry but apparently these dope hats are a new venture for them (or maybe I'm just late). I would so rock one of these...or both of them. I would go and cop one...but it's really sad that they cost 200 f'ing dollars. Some celeb has to wear this and they better make it dope. The acrylic words are on some mastermind steez imo. I'm guna be rich one day and cop all types of craziness like this just you wait and see. I don't care if I'm 50 when it happens either. You can holla at Chrishabana at where else but

http://www.chrishabana.com/

No stores in the bean carry the hat but you can order it online at

http://www.oaknyc.com/

Just don't wear it in front of me cuz I might strike you

Sometimes I surprise myself with the things I like...

You see that lil brown poncho type joint right out front? It's from GAP's holiday '09 collection. I can't remember the last time I ever stepped foot in the GAP. But I'm getting that unless I find one that's better. That is all.

Topshop is Fuckin' Dope

That is all

B-Boy Battle!!!

This weekend is guna be rockin. The Boston Center for the Arts is hosting the United Styles 5 World B-Boy Cup! Crazy Legs is gunna be there...that's enough for me to want to show up on its own. Tickets are $25 for one day and $45 for both days. The majority of the festivities will take place on Saturday and Sunday between 3 and 11pm. However there are after parties and pre parties thrown into the mix here and there. The Boston Center for the Arts is located at 264 Huntington Avenue. Holla at it!

My Weekend

I had a super dope weekend, which I will update with pics as soon as I can. lol. Friday night I went to my cousin's 40th bday party which was a blast. All the old folks kept passing me their drinks. lol. I did Single Ladies for the crowd but the hatin ass DJ mixed the song halfway thru (jealousy is a weak emotion) and I danced the night away with my 70 year old uncle. Sweet. Saturday I went on an ice cream hunt with my grandfather and like 10 other members of my family and we ended up in the wrong damn place so we split up and my grandfather my sister and I went to Taco Bell. On my way back to my grandfather's I chipped my nail polish (anyone that knows me KNOWS that's a no-no) so I went to CVS to cop a new one cuz I didn't have any at my Papa's. Of course I walked out with 6 new shades and decided midway thru fixin my chipped nail that maybe I should just do another color entirely and that made my Blvd entrance a bit later than I had timed. The Blvd grand opening was cool. Free sushi and beer= my kind of place. They started giving out raffle tix and I got a peek at one of the prizes...an iller than ill skateboard with this crazy painting of a naked lady on a couch on it. Basi (my college room mates sister) and I decided immedately that it was the prize I needed. Small problem...the people I was dipping with (it was my boys 21st bday) wanted to go b4 midnight so we could be singing happy birthday while sipping on vodka with loud music pounding in our ears. I had to run outside to tell them not to leave me and ended up staying a lil longer than I intended and in that time period I won the skateboard. Basi pleaded with the people to wait for me to come back in and I hauled ASS back up the steps but they sed NOPE! and pulled another ticket and gave my skateboard away :( I was so f'ing sad. So of course I had to go drown my sorrows. Ended up @ Jillians where my crew and I proceeded to try to out buy each other at the bar. I broke one of my favorite rings, my cousin ended up under a table, u kno, the usual things. Then came Sunday which took the f'ing cake cuz I went shooopppiinnnng :). Haberdash first, of course. I got sum pretty sweet ish outta there that I will post as soon as I get it outa my boys trunk. lol. I'm so glad that the Hab came around cuz I discovered 2 new stores: DAME and 40 which I will now frequent. I got sum ill stuff outta both stores (lil blk leather jckt remnicent of MJ's red one from Thriller on sale for $36. Real leather...made in Italy...umm...yea, hi) and the people that work there are IIILLLL! At Dame I wanted this denim waist cincher but it too big for my baby body and one of the women actually whipped out the sewing machine on my ass and did some tailoring on the spot. How cool is that? After my spree I went to my friends bday cookout (continuation of the celebration from the night before) where a bunch of my lovely buddies from Franklin Pierce (whooo college!) showed up and we had a blast. Got drunk (again) and ended up at Hong Kongs which ss one of the dopest places in the world cuz I don't know anywhere else where you can cop chicken teriyaki from a man in shirt that says TERIYAKI on the back while you're on the dancefloor. He literally walks around with an insulated bucket filled with the greatest teriyaki on earth slingin it for $1 to the liquored up 20 sumthings dominating the place. What's better than that? One of my boys and I decided to split a scorpion bowl between the two of us and when we got it we decided to see how fast we could drink it. Needless to say once I got home I fell asleep standing up in the shower and he doesn't remember the ride home after his brother dropped me off. And I made it to work at 8:45 Monday morning. Family, friends, liqs, food, parties, clubs, and shopping? Now that's what I call a good weekend :)

Crazy Couture

(From top: Valentino fuckin TOOK IT THERE so I had to get the individual shots. Top 3 are all Valentino. Group shot is Givenchy....those gold boots in the top right...boooyyy..... last shot is Alain Quilici. Never heard of him but these shoes r fierce. They remind me of something BatGirl 2010 should wear...make that Bat Woman)

I like shoes…a lot. I’m not going to say love because I have a friend that will work for shoes. Literally. This chick would without hesitation accept a job that paid no money…just shoes. That’s love. Anywho, I was looking through some of the Fall ’09 couture shows and I found some hotness that I’d like to share. I found lots-o-stuff, but these are my favs. Hope you enjoyed them as much as I did!

Footwear Lusts of The Moment...

From top: Topshop, Louis Vuitton, Omelle, Topshop again, Adidas

The Invisible Man?

My fav pic of them all...Liu appearing to be transparent standing in front of a guy (I'll admit when I first saw the pic I was completely lost. lmao), and another great one of him standing in front of earthquake rubble)

I am a complete lover of the arts so it’s only fitting that I share some of the great things I find with you. I’m also a devoted reader of foreign news websites (thanks to http://www.dailymail.co.uk/ for putting me on). I absolutely adore things that are off beat and people that think completely outside of the box. Today I present to you Liu Bolin from Shandong, eastern China. This dude is beyond ill imo. I’ll include a lil excerpt from the article, but I encourage you to head over to Daily Mail to peep the whole article and more pics:

"After graduating from school I couldn't find suitable work and I felt there was no place for me in society. I experienced the dark side of society, without social relations, and had a feeling that no one cared about me, I felt myself unnecessary in this world. From that time, my attitude turned from dependence into revolting against the system.'

Liu said he was further pushed on with his work when the Chinese authorities shut down his art studio in Beijing in 2005.
He said: 'At that time contemporary art was in quick development in Beijing, but the government decided it did not want artists like us to gather and live together. Also many exhibitions were forced to close. The situation for artists in China is very difficult and the forced removal of the artist's studio is in fact my direct inspiration of this series of photographs, Hiding In The City."

THE HAB IS COMING!!!

(Pics of the outside and inside of The Hab...are you as excited as I am?)

I’ve been in love with the Haberdash since I first heard about it which was before it even existed. The Haberdash (affectionately known as the Hab) is literally a vintage shop on wheels. Since she opened not too long ago I’ve been pestering the lovely Punky (Hab owner) via Twitter to please, please, pretty please bring it to Boston. This weekend my dreams come true!!! The Hab will be parked in front of 68 South Street this Sunday July 26 from 12-4. My darling friends and I will be there…will you? Check the links for more info on Punky and her shop

Oh Etsy, How I Do Adore Thee...

(Dresses by George Gabrielle Couture available for sale on Etsy)

Ok, so I’m a complete Etsy STALKER! I go on the site everyday and I’m also signed up for their daily (at times hourly. Lol) email updates and I adore them. For the newbies out there Etsy is like the no bidding version of Ebay but 7057348750 million times better. Well actually…it’s not really like Ebay. Most of the stuff on Etsy is home/handmade. It’s a place for fantastic artists to show and sell their goods. You wouldn’t believe the things you can find on here. Def a place to hit up if you like one of a kind or rare-ish things. I made the Ebay comparison because there are people on there that sell stuff they didn’t make, mostly vintage stuff so it’s still one of a kind or super rare. Anywho, forget Ebay, Etsy is the shit. I’m bringing this up because the site just made me a believer….in the wedding dress. I swear to you I have never in my life saw a wedding dress that I absolutely adored or could imagine tweaking to perfection until I came across George Gabrielle Couture this morning in one of the emails. Like seriously if I were getting married soon I would so cop the long dress for the wedding and the short one for the reception. I’m actually awaiting an answer from the labels designer to tweak the shorter dress for me for my bday bash next year, but I’m not guna say what I want done to it J. I’m waiting for her answer and I’ll go from there. Hit up Etsy!!!

Whoa...whoawhoawhoa. Hold up. I just got put on to some of the dopest shit I've ever seen in my life. There's this dude named Reggie Know Jolly that creates what he's dubbed "Fashion Figures". Apparently he creates ALL of this from the figures to their gear by his damn self. This is bananas. The thing is...I CAN'T SEEM TO FIND SHIT ABOUT HIM!!! I don't think I've ever heard of dude before, but either way I'd like to know as much as I can cuz he has to be something big to take on a project like this. Can anyone help me out with more info?

Who loves ice cream (froyo/sorbet/etc)? I know I do. I was reading the Metro yesterday on my way to work and they put me on to some dope new ice cream spots and I fully intend to visit all of them. I’m usually good just hittin up the ice cream truck or going to the corner store, but I’ve decided that I need to start stepping out of my comfort zones even more than I already do. The places that they listed are all in the Boston area, so I decided I should share. Holla at me if you visit any of them and let me know what you thought J

HOMAGE 2 MY LADIES #4

(From top: The POW! ring that everyone should be familiar with, The Mariel Wedges (and I don't even like wedges, The Asjai heels which I fully intend to own very soon, and part of her first shoe line which didn't prepare me for what was to come at ALL! lol)

If you don’t know who Melody Ehsani is, raise your hand. Now slap yourself. Lol. I kid, I kid. Melody Ehsani exploded outta nowhere (as far as I know…cuz I know I didn’t know about her b4 the end of last year) and she shows no signs of stopping. If you know anything at all about her it’s probably the dope ass comic book inspired rings, necklaces, and earrings that everyone from Erykah Badu to Keri Hilson to Rihanna has been wearing in their shows and videos. Alicia Keys rocked the rings with a damn gown on the red carpet! When I first found the earrings (Thanks Karmaloop) I had never seen them anywhere else. I put them in one of my Shaunie Luvs albums (for any of my facebook and myspace peeps out there) and said I would keep my eye on her. I never expected that she would hit me absolute FUH-LYNESSSS! There was a pair of her shoes that I was diggin for a long ass time (very last shoe in the “First Shoe Line” pic above for anyone that’s interested) and the rest of the shoes were ok, but I thought she was going to keep her focus on her jewelry. Then I read an interview of hers where she was talking about bringing the sneaker making train of thought into making shoes and I thought ok…she’s bout to do something. I didn’t expect the wildness that is her Spring ’09 collection tho. DOOOOPE! I want almost every damn shoe! She’s def the bizness and I plan on copping a pair of her purty shoes in the very near future. If you didn’t know who she was before, I suggest you start watching her now before she gets so big yo azz is left behind. Lol. Get wit it at http://www.melodyehsani.com/
