Work Gear

I realized yesterday as I was doing my hand post that I’ve never done any outfit posts…weird for someone that claims to have so much shit and love shopping so much right? Lol. I’m going to do a few outfit posts over the next day or two. Partly because I should and partly because I need to erase some of the 600+ pics I have in my phone. I think the main reason I don’t really do outfit posts is because I don’t take many full body pics of myself so I didn’t think that I had much to post. Upon further inspection though I’ve realized that I have pics from as far back as when I first got this phone which was over a year ago. I have a few things that you guys might enjoy. I’m going to start with work pics. I despise getting dressed for work for the simple fact that most of the things that I have to wear to work in order to be “appropriate” are things that I would never wear in my regular wardrobe. Like sure everyone should own a pair of slacks or two and some meeting types dresses, but I’m expected to wear that shit everyday…and I HATE it. I use to go nuts over it. Like I would go shopping for work clothes and meticulously put together outfits every week. Now I’m like eff that. I go as far as I can without risking someone saying anything to me because I can’t deal with censorship. And I have been censored before. I wanted to punch someone’s fuckin lights out as a result. I definitely don’t take things as seriously anymore and I’m proud that I’m figuring it all out. My favorite thing to do is throw in my accessories because that’s the easiest way to go about it. Here are some things that I’ve rocked in the past….

Definitely a fan of H&M's button ups because theyre dirt cheap...usually not more than $10 a pop and they're on sale often. I might have every color. Most things that I cop on the cheap hold up pretty well...not these shirts. I've def ripped them before and not known how the hell it happened. When that occurs I make them a part of my regular wardrobe by cutting the sleeves off and pinning them up with a different color/pattern of fabric or changing the buttons. A whole new life. I know I say this a lot, but that necklace I'm wearing is one of the greatest things in the world. It's a wooden mouse with a gold neck and crown and red and green jewels for the facial features and in the crown. It's soooo dope. I got if from Artifaktori in Davis Square at their grand opening party. Sweet.

I guess I was feeling patriotic on this day. I've since been told that I can't rock those blue capris I'm wearing because "technically they're shorts". I have them on right now. I'm dead ass serious. Fight the power man. Those shades that I'm rocking are from Punky as many of my grestest accessories are. People try to steal them all the time.

These pants are from Urban's and they're fantastic. Even though they don't fit into my regular life I really do like them a lot. That jacket is from another Urban's...Urban Behavior. I love it. My sister has the royal blue one. The belt that I'm wearing is another great find. Braided brown (fake) leather that you can wear on any part of ur body because you can stick the belt thingy anywhere on the belt. That was probably confusing as all hell but if you pick up a belt and imaine it it will all click. It was $1 at a yard sale...brand spanking new.

This outfit looks pretty plain, but I'm almost certain that I had my watermelon vans on. lol. The reason I posted it is because of the necklace that I'm wearing. When the Tiffany's keys came out I was like I HAVE TO HAVE ONE! I went into the store to see them more than willing to drop a load on a beautiful key til I realized the cheapest one was plain silver, this big ------, and cost $100. GTFOH! lol. Went into F21 not too long after and found a set of 3 gold keys chain and all for $4.95. And that my friends is why Forever 21 is the greatest store in all the land.

I was going to a conference that day. I know that because I usually don't wear heels to work. You might find that hard to believe cuz I have so many, but the thing is that they're not work appropriate. lol. This is one of the very few pairs that I have that is. I bought them in Milan for only 10 euro. Finding steals all over the globe.

I loved this outfit because of how much i love layering. The end of Spring and the beginning of Fall are my two favorite get dressed times of the year because of all the possibilities. I love knee/thigh highs over tights, shirts over shirts under jackets, skirts over skirts over tights, etc.

This outfit is pretty blah as well. Spruced it up with some chains around my neck, bright blue polish, and my rings of course.

Do any of you have some ideas as to how to make work gear more exciting? I feel like I do a decent job, but there's always room for improvement. I'm not planning on being at this job much longer, but things don't always work out the way that they're planned. Or I might end up in a place that I love but I still have to get dressed up for it. I'm looking for some printed button ups and slacks. Know where I could find some? I love print. I feel like if I find some good ones that I'll be able to use them in my everyday life as well. lol. Holla at me!
